DMV Technician Awarded Nevada Employee Veteran of the Month

First recipient of a new award from the Nevada Division of Human Resource Management

RENO – Kenneth Falconer with the Department of Motor Vehicles was presented with the prestigious Nevada Employee Veteran of the Month Award for January, 2021, for his outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the State of Nevada.

Falconer has a long military career and currently serves with the Nevada Army National Guard. He joined the State of Nevada Department of Corrections in 2014, then joined the Department of Motor Vehicles in 2018 as a Field Services Technician at the Reno office. At the DMV, Falconer continually demonstrates excellence by going above and beyond in customer service and with ingenuity in creating a safe work environment for fellow employees.

“I want to thank Kenneth Falconer for his devotion to both to our country and to the citizens of the State of Nevada,” said DMV Director Julie Butler. “Kenneth has a record of exemplary service that few can match.  He is a tremendous asset to our state.”

Falconer enlisted in the US Army. After completing One Station Unit training at Fort Benning and Airborne School, he was assigned to C Co 3/504 PIR (Parachute Infantry Regiment) from 2002-2005.

Falconer has served in three deployments in Afghanistan, two in Iraq and earned a Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman badge and an Expert Infantryman badge.

Falconer said his most memorable assignment was being attached to SOTG (Special Operations Task Group) TF 66 the Australian SASR (Australian Special Forces) as a communications expert.

But his most rewarding deployment has been serving Nevadans in just the past few months during Operation Warp Speed, the federal government’s effort to combat COVID-19.

And, even while deployed during Operation Warp Speed, Falconer came into the DMV on his non-duty days to help process mail-in transactions and further assist Nevadans during the lockdown.

The Department of Motor Vehicles is proud to support all active-duty military members and veterans.  The State of Nevada grants a number of vehicle tax exemptions for military service. The DMV offers a full range of military and veteran license plates for both those who served and their families.

The Employee Veteran of the Month award initiative began in January 2021 and each month an employee veteran is recognized by the Nevada Department of Administration Director and the Administrator of the Division of Human Resource Management.
