DMV to Close for Thanksgiving; Busy Offices to Follow |
The holiday rush for services has started |
CARSON CITY – The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles will be closed on Thursday, November 23 through Sunday, November 26 in observance of the Thanksgiving and Family Day holidays. When Nevada DMV offices are closed on a Friday in observance of a holiday, offices which typically offer Saturday services remain closed for the weekend. DMV officials warn that the week following the Thanksgiving holiday is typically the busiest time of the year for DMV offices. "Our first Walk-In Wednesday after the holiday will be exceptionally busy at our locations in Las Vegas, Reno, and Henderson.” "The best way to avoid a crowded office is to conduct your transactions online whenever possible," Laney continued. "We have more than two dozen services available online. You can register your car, renew your driver license, and this year we've added the capability to take your written knowledge test or get a 30-day movement permit for vehicles purchased through a private party or out-of-state so you can drive legally before your registration appointment." "Our self-service kiosks, found at partnered locations across the state, offer another alternative to waiting in an office for registration renewal transactions, and the tags are printed on the spot for your convenience." Visit the DMV’s website at dmv.nv.gov to find online services, kiosk locations, and more information. |
