Pahrump DMV to Reopen Thursday on a Limited Basis

Customers Will Now be Able to Schedule Appointments

PAHRUMP – The Pahrump Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has been non-operational for just over a month because of a building fire and flooding from a broken pipe, but last Monday, the State Fire Marshall office conducted their final inspection and gave the green light for a reopening. Pahrump customers should expect operations to resume on Thursday, August 29. Due to severe damage of computers and other equipment, only five of the ten windows will be open for service.

“We are so glad to report that there were no injuries reported and no records were destroyed in either incident,” Director Tonya Laney said. “It was one thing after the next, but we have a great team in Pahrump and Las Vegas who worked hard to accommodate our customers to get them service.”

Customers will now be able to schedule appointments in the Pahrump office, which can be made through the DMV’s new appointment system, WaitWell. Walk-in services will still be offered.

An electrical fire in the attic space above the main entrance of the building closed the building on July 26 and then a water pipe burst in the early morning hours on August 6, causing flooding that damaged carpets, drywall, and equipment.

“It has certainly been a wild month for the Pahrump office, but we are very pleased to see the light at the end of the tunnel,” Laney added. “I know the drive to Las Vegas was a bit of a hassle for our Pahrump customers and staff, but we appreciate their cooperation and patience as we worked diligently to reopen as quickly as we could.”

While the Pahrump office will resume walk-in services, the DMV asks customers to do their business online at dmv.nv.gov whenever possible.
