Volunteer Firefighter
$25 of the initial fee and $20 of the annual renewal supports volunteer training by the State Fire Marshall as directed by the Nevada State Firefighters Association.
You must meet the requirements below and listed on the Application (SP-62).
These plates are in stock at DMV offices.
You may order personalized plates in person, by mail or by fax. Use the Online Plate Search to search for available plate numbers.

Volunteer Firefighter Qualifications
You must show reasonable proof of identity and proof of current service as a volunteer firefighter, or status as a former volunteer firefighter who retired from service as a volunteer firefighter within this state after completing at least 10 years of active service. Applicants must complete an SP 62 Application.
Documentation includes the following:
- An identification card which indicates that the applicant currently serves as a Nevada volunteer firefighter
- A letter from the chief officer of a volunteer or combination Nevada fire department certifying the applicant’s current or former service as a volunteer firefighter
Volunteer and combination departments must be recognized as such by the State Fire Marshall.
As of October 1, 2023, documentation is not required for renewal. Firefighter plates may be renewed online, at a kiosk or by mail (AB 304).
